<Joint Seminar on the Development of Korea-Specialized Medical AI>
On February 23, AIIS held the “Joint Seminar on the Development of Korea-Specialized Medical AI” at Yangdooseok Hall, Gwanjeong Hall, Seoul National University.
The seminar was jointly organized by AIIS, the SNU Institute for Future Strategy, and the Seoul National University Hospital Healthcare AI Institute, with support from the Basic Healthcare Task Force of the National AI Strategy Committee.
About 200 experts in medicine and AI attended, including SNU President Yoo Hong-lim, Im Moon-young, Vice Chairman of the National AI Strategy Committee, and National Assembly member Ahn Cheol-soo (Bundang-gap).
In his opening remarks, AIIS Director Lee Jae-wook said that “medical AI is a complex challenge that requires consideration not only of accuracy but also of reliability and accountability,” emphasizing that close cooperation among academia, clinical practice, and policy will lead to tangible outcomes in medical AI.
The seminar addressed next-generation medical AI technologies — including data-driven platform AI, medical foundation models, and healthcare AI agents — along with policy and industry strategies for building an AI-based healthcare ecosystem.
In particular, participants offered diverse views on the direction of Korea-specialized medical AI, centered on the use of medical data and its application in clinical settings.
AIIS plans to continue expanding industry-academia-research cooperation in medical AI and to serve as an ongoing research cooperation platform to advance Korea-specialized medical AI technology and strengthen its global competitiveness.
