<AI Institute and Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) Sign Memorandum of Understanding>
AIIS signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) for cooperation and mutual exchange in AI technology for the railway sector.
The event was attended by Executive Vice President for Planning Kim Jun-gi, AIIS Director Lee Jae-wook, Deputy Director Kwak No-jun, and Department Head Lee Young-ki from Seoul National University, together with Park Chae-ok, Director of the Railroad Research Institute, from KORAIL.
The agreement represents an important partnership reflecting both institutions' commitment to accelerating digital transformation by introducing AI technology across railway safety and operations, and to systematically advancing innovation in public infrastructure.
It lays the groundwork for cooperation in a range of areas, including predictive diagnostics for railway facilities, data-driven risk management, advancement of AI training data, training of specialized personnel, and technology demonstration and commercialization, and is expected to help strengthen the safety and efficiency of public transportation.
Through this collaboration, the two institutions aim to move beyond simple technology development to build AI application models that contribute to the spread of social value.
While KORAIL's extensive data and long operational experience will serve as research resources, AIIS plans to build on this foundation to continuously expand its research infrastructure for leading research and practical application of AI technology in the railway sector.
