<AMD University Program Information Session>

On Friday, May 22, AIIS held an information session on the AMD University Program, discussing research cooperation with global semiconductor company AMD and support for AI and advanced computing research.

The session was attended by AIIS Director Lee Jae-wook, along with researchers from the labs of Professor Kim Do-nyun (Department of Mechanical Engineering) and Professor Kang Pil-sung (Department of Industrial Engineering) at Seoul National University,

while AMD was represented by Hugo A. Andrade, Senior Director of the AMD University Program; Joshua Lu Jiahua of AMD Research and Advanced Development; and Systems Design Engineer Hyukjoon Lee, among other key representatives.

The session introduced the key features of the AMD University Program and examples of global industry-academia cooperation, and included discussions on research support in AI and advanced computing, use of research infrastructure, and ways to expand industry-academia cooperation.

Participants also discussed a range of potential areas of future cooperation, including joint research, linkage with educational programs, and support for researchers.

AIIS plans to use this session as an opportunity to further strengthen its cooperative foundation with AMD, and to continue building world-class AI research capacity and expanding its global industry-academia cooperation network.
